Convergence - is the interlocking of merging mass media technologies, traditional and digital media on one black box device.The most relevant is smartphone as it blends various media platforms together e.g. making calls, editing pictures online shopping and more. Convergence makes people use black box devices like phones as it has multiple platforms on it and makes it easier for people to use and travel and is more convenient. 































































Production Technologies:

Production technologies have been revolutionised over time to make production more efficient. One production technology that has developed over time is camera and SD card. In the past there was analogue cameras these weren’t efficient as they had to be developed which took a lot of time and you couldn’t see them pictures to see if they were good on not until they were developed. The digital cameras allow for a wider target audience instead of a niche expertise audience as they are cheaper and user friendly so easier to use and understand. The cameras also allow for convergence because the SD card allows for it to be viewed on laptop afterwards this links different media technologies on the same black box device. The digital camera also allows for videos and or pictures to be viewed straight away to see if they are at a high enough quality otherwise can be retaken straight away this makes them more efficient and saves money and time. This is helpful for advertising industry as when they have taken photos on cameras for their campaigns they can check all the pictures are of a high quality and standard to use in their adverts for billboards social media statics and more.

Another production technology is a phone this has significantly developed over time from a simple phone with no screen and just received and made calls to a smart phone which allows you to do lots of things possible. This is the biggest example of convergence as a smart phone as multiple different media technologies all on the same black box device. A smart phone in production allows for personnel to keep in touch with others during production so everything moves efficiently also people can see digital devices on the go which saves time and money during production. Users are nowadays more likely to start using these apps such as social media due its easy to understand user friendly developments this makes people able to make content easily even if its not at high standards, this also therefore allows people to view content, messages and pictures easily. This is helpful for advertising industry as due to social media brands can gain exposure due to putting their adverts on social media as it attract as a wider audience and can be viewed by more people who like their content, they can also gain followers this way as well. 

Marketing 

Influencers have had a serious development in how social media has developed and the way technology has advanced. Influencers are people who have a major following and therefore brands and companies will send them products to promotes within their videos so their brands can have exposure and the influencers follows will be interested in those brands and buy from them as they are heavily swayed due to the influencers options and they want to be just like them. This is extremely successful fro marketing and advertising for brands are these influencers especially the ones with millions of followers can influence their followers to sell out brands and companies and make them extremely popular which boost their revenue as well as the influencers from their videos. 

Social media is extremely important for marketing in the growing technological advertising world. Brands can put posts, videos, digital adverts, tweets and more this allows for multiple views and followers to come to their page to watch and be influenced to buy. The more different social media platforms a brand advertises on the more viewers and buying they are likely to gain. Audiences can access these social media platforms for free and therefore have easy access to look at these brands and therefore are more likely to read about their products and then buy. Before social media it was hard to get brand exposure now these platforms are extremely easy for one post to blow up randomly and then sell out due to just one post on their platform. This is why social media is extremely important to help better brands as its where people are most likely to read about it, this will therefore gain them revenue.

Distribution

One way products are distributed is through streaming services, these are platforms other than standard tv licence that hold entertainment online through the internet that requires a subscription and includes things such as tv shows movies and more. These have developed over time due to the fact that people have moved over to the internet and away from things such as dvd and cd which is a reason why things such as renting films such as blockbuster have gone bankrupt. Once you have a subscription you can access all their movies, documentaries and more as well as accessing it on different devices so it’s easy to use and watch on the go. This therefore links to convergence as they can merge different platforms onto one device.

Another way products are distributed is through hashtags, these are used on social media platforms to help spread awareness of their brand. The hashtags allow for convergence as they can been used across multiple media platforms. It’s a great way to distribute your product on social media as hashtags can be tailored to be specific for certain product  e.g. if people are looking for drinks brand they could search up #DRINKS it would bring up drink specific videos and pictures. This has developed social media and distribution of products as people can have easy and quick access to videos and pictures that they want to see and are interested in. This is helpful for the advertising industry as people can view content that they like and as a result brands can gain loyal fans and followers and allows they to want to find out more about the company and buy their products.
